The Minnesota Flames AAA hockey program is based in St. Cloud, MN. The non-profit organization was founded in 2002 and it has become one of Minnesota’s premier AAA hockey clubs. Our goals are to develop our players' individual and team skills in a positive environment so they can compete at the highest level of AAA hockey.
Our season typically runs from March 15 through September 1. June, July and early August will have a less intense ice schedule to allow the players to participate in other summer sports and activities. We believe that this gives players excellent opportunity to learn, improve and have fun in the off season.
Players tryout for teams by birth year, and must play on the team of their birth year. Our development program includes on-ice team practices and skills sessions; dryland to further enhance skills, build strength and improve quickness. Practices and skills sessions are both alone and shared with another team to help keep cost low. Teams are run for value, not for profit and our organization works hard to keep fees reasonable. Scrimmages and tournaments are arranged for each age level depending on team interest.
Practices are conducted at two main locations. National Hockey Center located on the campus of St. Cloud State University and the Municipal Athletic Complex (MAC) located on St. Cloud's west side.
